Polysorbate 20 is an emulsifier, which means it helps oil and water mix together. Derived from a sugar alcohol made from fruit or vegetable sources, it contains lauric acid which a medium-chain fatty acid found mainly in coconut oil.
All Polysorbates are not created equal. There are some contamination concerns in lower quality, lower grade Polysorbate products. In both Polysorbate 20 and 80, the contaminants that cause concern are Ethylene Oxide and 1,4-Dioxane. These contaminants can be avoided by sourcing Polysorbate from reputable suppliers that only provide highest quality products available. We use kosher food-grade polysorbate 20 of the highest quality for all our products containing Polysorbate 20 so we can be confident that contamination is not a concern.
